Genetic toxicology utilizes methods of biological monitoring in the field of primary prevention of cancerous diseases of subjects professionally or environmentally exposed to mutagenic and carcinogenic substances. Cytogenetic analysis of human peripheral lymphocytes represents a biological exposure test and enables qualitative and quantitative detection of chromosomal aberrations in human somatic cells in vitro by means of optical microscopy.
The Ames mutagenicity test is used to determine the potential mutagenic activity of chemicals, biological materials or complex mixtures. The test employs genetically modified strains of Salmonella typhimurium.
The laboratories are accredited by the Czech Accreditation Institute as a testing laboratory according to EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
The activities include
- cytogenetic examination of subjects exposed professionally to mutagens and carcinogens
- analysis of mutagenic and clastogenic potential of chemicals and mixtures under REACH
- evaluation of mutagenicity of ambient air, water and urine by means of the Ames mutagenicity test
- organization of interlaboratory proficiency testing for the method of cytogenetic analysis of human peripheral lymphocytes
- consultations, presentations, internships
