Description of the center's activities

The Centre is focused on environmental impacts on health. The basic activity is the continuous monitoring and evaluation of new findings in the field of water quality (drinking, bottled and bathing), soil pollution, hazardous wastes and air pollution (indoor and outdoor), the health risk assessment, and formulation and expert justification of new quality requirements, incl. legislative proposals. The Centre provides methodical guidance to regional public health authorities and public health institutes.

The Centre has been organizing the national program of human biomonitoring and it coordinates regular large health studies of the Czech population. It ensures the operation of the Czech Environmental Health Monitoring System.
